Today is the first day of the twowritingteachers.com Slice of Life Challenge. As part of the challenge, Slicers, as we are called, write a blog post a day for 31 days. I was inspired to begin this challenge by a friend of mine, another Michelle who wrote about her Dad today. A few days ago, she shared a Facebook post from Two Writing Teachers.
At that point I thought, “Hmmm, well maybe”. I like to research so of course I delved into all the FAQs. I was excited as I always am at the beginning of something. But I still didn’t commit. I didn’t fill out the participant form. I didn’t set up my blog page. I didn’t do anything. Well, except I kept thinking about it. So this morning as I was following the snake of cars over the mountain toward the sunrise and my job, I started to write blog posts in my head. That’s so much easier than actually writing them on a blog. But it’s called a challenge for a reason, and I’ve decided to commit. I’m going to do it. It's about the process, one day at a time. I’m hoping that the challenge will help me develop the habit of writing each day. I write a lot in my head, but this will make me put it down on “paper.” It’s a bit like exercise. I can exercise in my head, and think about all of the benefits it will bring me, or I can actually do it and live them. What habit do you want to develop? What benefits do you want to actually experience in real life instead of in your head?
